Priority Living

What is important in your life? Some people seem to be obsessed with their lawn. Others are really into their cars. They wash and wax them. They detail them. They take better care of their cars than their body. And many others seem to spend wasted hours in front of the TV or computer.

We all need to take a moment and look at the things in our world that are really important. Our family. Our friends. And our spirit, mind and body. It's easy to get out of balance with this or that. And I think you know what I mean. Because we've all been there.

So take some quiet time and reflect. I'm writing this blog to myself. I need it. I going to renew my mind by reading some scripture and ask God to help me live my life with the right priorities. And then I'm going to invest some quality time with my family. And last, I'm doing a simple workout to release some stress, get the blood pumping and breathe.

I feel better already.

Don't Look Back - Great Things Ahead!

Sometimes we get frustrated because we remember our past mistakes and failures and even let them hold us back from moving ahead. The great thing about failing (what?) is what we learn from our experiences. Most great victories in life come after a bitter defeat. But there are many who allow these defeats to paralyze them with fear and pain. Decide now! It's your choice to quit looking back at your failures. Choose to move forward to the great things ahead. Create your destiny by making better choices in the areas of health, fitness and nutrition. It will affect your relationships at work and home. Stay positive! Great things ahead.

Live Life!

I've been caught in a whirlwind of life moments and have neglected this blog. Forgive me. I know you're living a nice relaxed life of ease and content. NOT! We all experience the pressures and demands of life in today's busy world. That's why it is so important make time for YOURSELF! Yes, you. Schedule a workout with a friend followed by a nice healthy lunch. Go with your family to the beach, park or tennis court. Yes, I took my three boys to the Penn tennis courts on Monday afternoon in between appointments. Many of you know I was raised in a tennis family. It was a circus like event, balls flying over the fence, older boys texting between shots. But it was fun.

You have my permission. Go out and have fun and live life!

But Seriously Folks

Please take note of this blog. Your life could depend on it.

All of us who live in the great US of A are subject to the great blessings of the land of plenty and the pursuit of happiness. Unfortunately many Americans are making daily choices that negatively affect their health and well-being. Epidemic levels of obesity are real. Heart disease, diabetes and stroke kill millions. Not to mention cancer. (New cancer prevention guidelines from the American Cancer Society say at least 30 minutes a day of dedicated exercise above and beyond the usual activities of daily life on five or more days a week is needed to really reduce your cancer risk)

A little over two years ago, a good friend of mine from Penn who lived just down the road on the banks of the St. Joe River had a stroke. Mike Kramer was busy opening an office in Atlanta, traveling back and forth from Florida. He died only a few days after having a stroke.

Mike and I were fellow high jumpers on the Penn track team. He was like a coach on the field and help me become one of the top high jumpers in the state. We also shared a love of music and many times got together to play our guitars. He was a member of the famed Harman Dr. Gang.
He is missed very much by his family and friends.

Please consider the daily choices you are making. Include regular physical activity. Be more aware of what you eat. Take proper care of the body God has given you.

You owe it to yourself and to the ones you love.
